Why label & publisher InFiné chose AIMS after months of testing

InFine partners with AIMS AI music search
“We ran a lot of tests, it took us eight months to complete — and AIMS was way more precise and powerful than any other solution we tried.”

About InFiné

Founded in 2006, InFiné is a French independent record label and publisher whose catalog spans electronic, ambient, classical and experimental genres. Known for its artist-driven ethos and genre-defying sound, InFiné combines musical innovation with thoughtful sync placement, curation and catalog development.

The Challenge

Searching across a complex, diverse catalog — fast

InFiné needed an intelligent tool that matched the team’s creative instincts and could help them respond to sync briefs quickly and precisely. They spent months testing various AI tools, but the results weren’t cutting it. “We were always disappointed,” says Head of Publishing Jonathan Gourmel. The turning point came when the team tested AIMS

InFiné’s Jonathan Gourmel (Head of Publishing), Zoé Tfil (Sync Manager), Matt de Plessis (Digital & Marketing Manager) and Antoine de Nardi (Copyright Manager) talk AIMS.

The Solution

Precision that mirrors a sync professional’s mind

InFiné found that AIMS’ Similarity Search consistently outperformed other solutions in both accuracy and relevance. They also discovered the benefits of Prompt Search, which opens up other ways of thinking. As the Sync Manager, Zoé now uses AIMS with every request, posting entire briefs into Prompt Search to get instant results that spark ideas.

“I’d sometimes spend hours on research. Now, those briefs take me around 40 minutes — giving me more time to be creative and come up with solutions that clients wouldn’t have thought of.”

Great for getting to know catalogs & finding hidden gems

As InFiné’s newest team member, Zoé uses AIMS to learn and navigate the back catalog. “It’s very efficient in this kind of work,” she says. But it’s not just for newbies; the entire team sees AIMS as a trustworthy extension of their curatorial instincts, as it often surfaces music they forgot was there.

“You’re intrigued by the results. It’s like rediscovering one of your own tracks under the light of the prompt.”

Speed only matters when it comes with quality

“One of our main assets as a small publisher is to be quick,” says Jonathan. “The bigger publishers, it takes them 2–3 weeks. At InFiné, it’s 2-3 hours. The quicker we react, the better. AIMS gives us that.” Matt adds that AIMS is spot-on with recognizing musical traits, which lets the team skip the “endless debate” about how to label hard-to-define music.

“You can really rely on the genre and the moods without having to go through again and listen to everything. We can trust it and use the saved time for something else.”

Smart features that take precision to the next level

A search feature InFiné appreciates is Segment, which finds music similar to a specific part of a reference track. Jonathan explains that it helps him search in a way that doesn’t always come naturally: “When you listen to a song with your own ears, maybe you're not focused on those 30 seconds. AIMS keeps the focus just on the part which the client is looking for.”

“That’s what gives us an edge. With AIMS, we’re not only quicker but also more precise in answering a brief.”

Launching campaigns with AIMS playlist curation

Beyond search, InFiné uses AIMS to streamline playlist creation — building playlists using initial prompts or reference tracks, then continuously adjusting and expanding them. It’s a powerful workflow for both sync and campaign prep. Recently, InFiné ran an “ambient campaign” by using AIMS to select all ambient tracks in the catalog. Manually, that would’ve taken ages, and many songs could’ve been missed.

“It’s not a huge catalog but it’s still thousands of tracks. With AIMS, you have the machine’s brain to guide you.”

Tags so accurate, InFiné builds internal systems around them

With plenty of creative metadata to navigate, the team uses AIMS to structure and tag their catalog — then reimports those tags into their own systems. They even use AIMS tags to organize for Bandcamp or social media. The reason, Matt says, is the standout accuracy.

“We’ve done tests and honestly, that’s where we were amazed. It doesn’t really get things wrong — almost never.”
