“We use AIMS on almost every music search we do; it’s a great tool for our sync team. It really lets you dig in and explore the catalog and get to the right song much quicker.”
About Anthem
Anthem Music Group is one of the world’s leading independent music companies, home to both Anthem Music Publishing and Anthem Records. Headquartered in Toronto, with operations in Nashville, New York and Los Angeles, Anthem supports and invests in the careers of songwriters and artists and the creation of exceptional music.
The Challenge
For a team working on 25–30 sync briefs per week (on top of other creative and pitching work), speed and accuracy matter. Especially when it comes to curating the perfect track selection. For Anthem, the goals were clear: faster pitching, smarter catalog search, and improved creative flow.
Anthem’s Tom Leighton (VP of Licensing) and Dante Berardi Jr. (Director of Licensing & Creative) share their AIMS experiences.
The Solution
AIMS a key part of Anthem’s sync workflows
AIMS really helps explore the catalog and surface hidden gems that otherwise might have been missed. Tom notes, “We use AIMS extensively. It’s a really helpful tool and a big part of what we're doing on the sync and licensing side.” Dante adds:
“We’ve had multiple national syncs where AIMS was a key part of the process. It’s always in the mix.”
Exploring creative directions with Prompt Search
AIMS’ Prompt Search is also extremely useful, depending on the brief and unique needs of the music supervisor and/or client. “I’ve done full briefs — usually I pull out keywords like genre, year, male or female singer, then go in with something like, ‘I need a song about this.’ I kind of mix it up when I get into the prompts just to see what will come back.”
“It's like a baseball player: They go through their steps every time they take a swing. AIMS is part of that process for me.”
AIMS flattens the learning curve for large catalogs
With tens of thousands of commercial songs, it takes months if not years to really get to know a catalog. Cutting that down to weeks is a huge benefit for newer employees who can now contribute from day one.
“AIMS enables you to go from a six-month learning curve to hitting the ground running within a couple of weeks.”
Getting artists and songwriters their flowers
Tom acknowledged there’s simply no way to know a large catalog intimately; countless amazing tracks go unnoticed just because of human limitations. AIMS makes sure every song has an equal chance of being found.
“I’ve been with the company for over 10 years, and there’s no way I could tell you every song that's in there. AIMS helps us do right by our writers and artists. It surfaces songs based on what fits — not just what’s familiar.”
